What causes growth of bacteria?
Pores consist of bacteria that survive naturally at the base of the hair follicle. This bacteria lives off sebum (oil) and cellular debris. When the skin produces more sebum, this bacteria multiplies.
What are Biofilms?
Acne-causing bacteria thrive in excess sebum. This bacteria, in turn, attaches itself to the skin and reproduces, creating a thin film which is known as a Biofilm.
